Automate Your Email Newsletter with an AI Agent

Watch the Newsboy plugin build a complete email newsletter inside Claude Cowork: AI-powered research, story curation, fact-checking, brand voice editing, and Beehiiv transfer. Here's everything you need to replicate this workflow.

What will I be able to do after this training?

  • Build a full newsletter production pipeline that handles research, writing, fact-checking, and publishing in one automated workflow
  • Use an AI agent to scan tier-one news sources and surface story candidates relevant to your audience
  • Curate content by reviewing AI recommendations and picking stories, stats, and trivia that match your editorial voice
  • Run an automated fact-check pass that verifies every claim before you publish
  • Apply your brand voice automatically so every issue reads like you wrote it
  • Transfer your finished newsletter directly into Beehiiv using browser automation

What key terms do I need to know?

  • Newsboy: a Claude Cowork plugin that automates newsletter production. It handles research, writing, fact-checking, and brand voice editing in one pipeline.
  • Content blocks: the individual sections of a newsletter (news stories, by the numbers, trivia, "oh and this," ad). Each block has its own format and rules.
  • Express mode: a Newsboy setting that builds the entire newsletter in one pass without stopping for approval at each block. You review and edit at the end.
  • Tier-one sources: high-quality publications that Newsboy is configured to pull from. Filters out random blogs and low-authority sites.
  • Reynolds: the brand voice style used for newsletter content. Witty, approachable, and informative. Named after Ryan Reynolds.
  • Growth OS: the folder structure and plugin system that gives Claude context about your business (offers, persona, brand voice). This is why the newsletter knows your audience.
  • Research document: a file the Newsboy plugin creates during the research phase. Contains detailed source information, publish dates, and story breakdowns for each candidate.

The Newsletter Production Pipeline

This is the end-to-end workflow demonstrated in the training:

Step What Happens Your Role
1. Research AI scans tier-one sources for recent stories about your topic area (e.g., AI and marketing) Wait
2. Curate AI presents story candidates with recommendations for each content block Review candidates, pick your favorites, give feedback
3. Draft AI writes the full newsletter using your selected stories and content block formats Wait
4. Ad AI asks which offer to promote, then writes a custom ad using your offer document Pick the offer
5. Fact-check AI verifies every claim in the newsletter against sources, flags corrections Review flagged items
6. Voice edit AI runs a final pass applying your brand voice (Reynolds) for tone and style Wait
7. Transfer AI uses browser automation to move the finished newsletter into Beehiiv Add images, final review, send

Newsletter Content Blocks

Each block has its own format configured in the Newsboy plugin:

  • News stories (x2): Category label, headline, bullet points with facts, "why it matters" section tied to your persona
  • By the numbers: A single compelling stat with context about why your audience should care
  • Trivia: A Jeopardy-style question with the answer revealed at the end of the newsletter, plus a fun fact
  • "Oh and this": A weird or surprising AI story for entertainment value
  • Ad: A custom promotion for one of your offers, written from your offer document in the Growth OS folder

Why this workflow produces better newsletters

  • Context-aware: because Claude is rooted in your Growth OS folder, it knows your offers, your persona, and your brand voice before it writes a single word
  • Human-in-the-loop: you pick the stories, approve the angle, and review the draft. AI handles the research and production grind.
  • Fact-checked: every claim gets verified against sources before you publish. No more manually checking stats and dates.
  • Consistent voice: the Reynolds brand voice pass ensures every issue sounds like you, not like a robot
  • Repeatable: the Newsboy plugin remembers your preferences. Each time you run it, the output gets better because Claude self-edits the skill based on your feedback.

The Beehiiv Transfer

After the newsletter is drafted and fact-checked, Claude uses browser automation to move everything into Beehiiv:

  1. Claude opens your browser and navigates to Beehiiv
  2. Duplicates an existing post (preserves your template formatting)
  3. Updates the title and replaces the body content with the new newsletter
  4. Formats everything to match your established structure
Note: Images don't transfer automatically through browser automation. You'll need to drop images into the Beehiiv editor manually after the transfer. The text content and formatting come through cleanly.

How do I get started?

  1. Install the Growth OS Quick Start plugin. Go to theclick.ai/training and follow the Claude Cowork Quick Start training. This sets up your folder with offers, persona, and brand voice.
  2. Get the Newsboy plugin. Available to theCLICK Pro members. It installs into your Growth OS folder and configures itself on the first run.
  3. Run your first issue. Say "produce a newsletter" and Newsboy walks you through the configuration: what topics to cover, how many stories, which content blocks, your brand voice preferences.
  4. Every issue after that: just say "produce a newsletter" and the pipeline runs. Research, curate, write, fact-check, voice edit, transfer.

Pro tips from the session

  • Use express mode for speed. It builds the whole newsletter in one pass. You edit at the end instead of approving each block individually.
  • Check the research document. Newsboy saves detailed source information in your folder. Use it to verify stories and find additional context.
  • Give feedback on the format. If you don't like how a content block is written, tell Claude. It updates the Newsboy skill so the fix applies to every future issue.
  • Pick stories your audience cares about. The AI recommends stories, but you bring the editorial judgment. Choose the stories you're most interested in and that you think your readers will care about.
  • The plugin knows your offers. Because Growth OS includes your offer document, the ad block writes custom promotions that actually match what you sell. Pick the most relevant offer for each issue.
